For more than forty years, I have made perfume. If it taught me anything, it's that people never fall in love with the bottle. They fall in love with what's inside, and with the memories it holds.
Then one day, without warning, my heart gave out. The doctors gave me a ten percent chance. When I woke from open-heart surgery, I didn't know my own wife, my children, or my grandchildren. I went home in a wheelchair. Our income was gone, and our house went to auction.
Not long after, our baby girl was diagnosed with two brain tumors. From that day on, I wasn't fighting for my life. I was fighting for hers.
My wife would not let me quit. When I couldn't stand, she held me up, and step by step she taught me to walk again. Our neighbors waited outside to cheer me on as I passed with my walker. I learned that no one walks that road alone.
When I could work again, I went back to the craft I have loved my whole life. Working from home, my wife and I began making fragrance by hand, one bottle at a time. Today, the little girl we prayed for sits beside us and helps. Some days I stop and just watch her, and I know how blessed we are. Maybe God knew exactly what He was doing all along.
Our name is Scales, and life has taught us about balance: that every hard season can be weighed against grace. Scales Parfum is our second chance, made possible by people who believed in us. Free refills for life is our way of returning that kindness. Your bottle is meant to be kept, and we'll keep filling it.
From our family to yours,
